Your idea.
Sharpened into a concept.

The Ideation Agent runs as a Socratic thinking partner. It does not invent your concept; it draws it out by asking, then logs every assumption and open question before anything gets built.

The expensive failure mode

Most products fail before anyone writes code

Real product failures are decided in the gap between a vague idea and a concept precise enough to test. That gap is where time and money get spent building the wrong thing.

The Ideate stage exists to close that gap early, when changing your mind costs nothing. The Ideation Agent asks the questions you would forget to ask yourself, logs every assumption you are making, and hands a sharpened concept to Discover.

What the Ideation Agent produces

Three things before you spend a cent

Most tools write the concept for you. The Ideation Agent asks questions until the concept is yours, then logs it in a form the rest of the pipeline can use.

A concept brief you actually own

The agent draws the concept out of you, not invented from a prompt. Problem, target user, and what must be true for the product to work, captured in plain language.

Every assumption on the table

Every claim the concept depends on gets logged as a testable assumption, not guessed at or skipped. The Discover stage will pressure-test each one.

A research agenda, not a blank page

Open questions become concrete tasks for the Research Agent. The Discover stage inherits a real agenda instead of starting from scratch.

Socratic questioning, not AI invention

01

Describe the idea

You explain what you want to build in plain language, as rough as it is. A one-line idea is enough.

02

The agent questions

The Ideation Agent probes the problem, the user, and the wedge, one pointed question at a time. It draws the concept out of you.

03

Assumptions logged

Every claim the concept depends on is recorded as a testable assumption, not buried or forgotten.

04

Concept brief delivered

A rolling brief captures the sharpened concept and hands it directly to the Discover stage for pressure-testing.

What lands in your project

Concept brief

A rolling document capturing the problem, the target user, and the three to five things that must be true for the product to work.

Assumptions log

A testable list of every claim the concept depends on, surfaced by the agent's questions rather than self-deception.

Open-questions list

The research agenda for Discover. Every question the concept cannot yet answer, handed directly to the Research Agent.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a fully formed idea to start?

No. The stage is designed for rough input. A one-line idea is enough; the agent's questions surface the missing decisions, and the brief takes shape as you answer them.

Can I skip Ideate if my concept is already clear?

You can move quickly through it, but the assumptions log is still worth generating. It becomes the research agenda for Discover, and clear concepts often hide untested assumptions.

Does the concept brief feed into the rest of ProductOS?

Yes. The concept brief, assumptions log, and open-questions list become shared context for the Discover stage. The Research Agent inherits the agenda directly instead of starting from a blank prompt.

How is the Ideation Agent different from a chatbot?

The agent is explicitly a questioner, not a writer. It does not invent a concept for you; it draws the concept out of you by asking, then logs every assumption and open question for the next stage.
